Wrapping up 2011

We had an eventful last week of the year!

Our house in Fullerton finally closed escrow on December 22, 2011!  Praise the Lord!!!  (We had been trying to sell it since 2008, and it was supposed to close on June 27, 2011.)  We are so thankful for this blessing!  The first week of January we met with our tax guy and he determined that we don't have any capital gains issues (with escrow going six months longer than planned, we thought there might be).  Praise the Lord some more!!!  You can imagine the load that was lifted from us with this news!

Kelly preached on Christmas Day for a combined service here in Bishop.  Bishop Creek Community Church joined with First Presbyterian in Bishop and Calvary Baptist.  The other pastors asked Kelly to preach.  He did a great job!  Check it out... http://bishopcreek.org/resources/sermon-study-podcasts/?sermon_id=191.  (You can actually check out all of Kelly's sermons and the articles he writes for the local paper on our church website... www.BishopCreek.org.)

We finished off the year by going up to Cardinal Village Resort where the Cluffs were hosting their New Year's Eve Party (celebrated with New York at 9pm California time).  A great time was had by all!  We had a lot of friends from Bishop Creek Community Church there, and a lot of other friends too!  It was also nice to make some new ones!  Ken & ShaleAnn are such good hosts!  We are blessed!

Thank you for your continued prayers for us as we minister to our church and to the community of Bishop!  We are excited to see what the Lord is going to do in 2012!

Keep pressing in to our Lord and to His Word!

Bishop Creek Community Church

January 6, 2012 marks four years since the first sermon Kelly preached at Bishop Creek Community Church in Bishop, CA.  There were 29 people in church that day (including kids).  Now we are averaging 50-70.  It is exciting to see how the Lord has grown our body, and given us a good reputation in the community!
BCCC Family Camping 2011
We are excited about the things God is doing in and through our church!  There is a hunger for the Word of God.  There is a desire for deep Biblical teaching.  There is a focus on keeping our head and our heart connected.
The men meet monthly for a Men’s Breakfast.  Each week they have Bible Study that is Sermon Application.  They are focusing on living out what they are learning.

Our women have morning and evening Bible Study groups.  Many from the community participate.  The women read the Bible in 90 Days  in the summer of 2010 (and others from the church joined the women in doing so again in the sumer of 2011)!   In January the women will begin “Reading God’s Story” (the HCSB chronological Bible which they’ll read in a year) and will also begin a Beth Moore Bible Study on the book of James - Mercy Triumphs.
Last month we launched a new website.  A church friend in Australia created it for us, and is teaching Suzanne how to add to it.  Check it out! www.BishopCreek.org.  You can listen to Kelly’s sermons and read his weekly articles (plus lots more)!  We are also on Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/BishopCreekCommunityChurch  We’d love for you to “Like” us!

Please keep our church in your prayers... prayers for direction, finances, wisdom regarding location (we need more room and would like to be able to meet in the morning - we meet at 4pm because we don’t have our own building), and of course to have an impact on the community!
Are you looking for a ministry to support?  We invite you to join us as prayer partners (and/or financially) as we participate in the work the Lord is doing here in Bishop!

Update on Kelly & Suzanne...

Family Trip, Kauai, 2011
Kelly & Suzanne are so thankful that the Lord has allowed them to be in full time ministry in Bishop!  What a blessing!  They are very involved in the church and the community.  They enjoy investing in the lives of those the Lord brings across their paths.  Often they can be found around town meeting with people or visiting people in their homes.
Kelly has an article in the paper each week and a radio show every other weekend.  He is working on his doctorate (online) at SATS (South African Theological Seminary) and his Ordination with the EFCA (Evangelical Free Church of America).
VBS 2010
Suzanne is now officially the Women’s Ministry Director and the Communication Director.  She is also working towards her Certificate of Ministry with the EFCA.  She read the “Bible in 90 Days” (B90) over the summer of 2010.  It was life changing!  “Reading it this way brings a perspective and an context that I never realized possible!”  She did B90 again in 2011, this time listening to it.  “It was exciting to see the different things that stood out while reading compared to listening!”
Your prayers are desired for them and their ministry... that they would see clearly and follow the path the Lord leads them on, and that the Lord would put a deepening hunger for the Word and relationship and service into the hearts of those in their church and community.
Talbot Wedding 2010
They are still trying to close escrow on their house in Fullerton (issues with the buyer and the IRS).  Please pray for the Lord’s protection here and for resolution or direction.
While Kelly & Suzanne love being in Bishop, they love and miss their friends and family far away.  Please keep in touch with them!  They would love to hear from you!
